I was listening to Michigan radio (NPR) http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=90280905 (a lot of calls about Black folks thinking that White people need to see what they have done wrong, and what how race is being used in the election…) and I just wanted to say that I think that everyone blaming everything that is race related on the White population has to stop (it’s the White persons fault that there is so much conversation about Rev Wright). I think that he has put himself and others who think like him out on the fire. It can’t be his fault that the media has taken a liking to a hot story. Just like every problem in the world it’s about White people treating other cultures poorly (do people think that?). I think that it has become just easier for people to just blame White’s since they already feel guilty for things their ancestors have done, so why the hell not make all of them second guess what they are saying and doing forever. I’m not naïve to think that there aren’t some racist White people out there but I am also not naïve to think that there aren’t just as many Black, Middle Eastern, Asian racists…. You name it and I’m sure someone in that group has a problem with you. Really, I am tired about hearing how White people need to know how Black people feel. Understand it sounds bad, but give me a minute. What is there to understand? Why only the feelings of Black people, what about other minorities? What about Black people understanding that it’s bullshit to always blame all White people for something that happened so long ago. What about thinking that while there may be still some racist people out there that you can’t blame all White people for those few. By the way White people you don’t have to feel bad for things you never had control over. THE WHITE GUILT THING, DROP IT! Do you think that all Black people feel sorry that you feel bad about issues that you never took part in? Doubt it. Pick up the guilt stick when you know that you personally have been in control of depriving, stereotyping, facilitating poverty, crime, and the neglect of the Black community. I think that it is just easier to blame White people now for what many Black people can’t control for themselves. Like crime, drugs, unemployment, teen pregnancies, diseases, and education just to name a few. Is it the fault of White people that some Blacks don’t raise themselves or raise their children up to NOT do drugs, commit crimes, have unprotected pre marital sex, and to drop out of school? Is it really? Because I will tell you one thing in my house I don’t give anyone that type of power over me and my children. Do Black people need to feel like someone is taking care of them? That they need someone to hold their hand while raising their children or their own lives? It’s makes me mad because it seems that other races don’t blame White people for their problems (except for some idiots like Hugo Chaves from Venezuela, Fidel Castro from Cuba, and some other Middle Eastern/Asian countries). But as for cultures here in American it seems that Black people are the only people that truly NEED to give up the responsibility to be held accountable now in this day an age for their own actions.
Black people need to understand for themselves, that with even the word N—- they give people power. They can’t stand to have a White person call them N but it’s cool to do it to themselves (no self respect), don’t call our women a ho’s let us do it and not in private I want to make a CD about it and put a catchy tune to it so that everyone can rap along. Don’t take away my ability to have a nice neighborhood I’ll steal, break windows, sell drugs, dress like hoodlums all by myself. Power is what you give to White people when you pretend that they are responsible for your fucked up life. If you want it to be the White peoples fault then by all means kick off your shoes, stop taking care of your children, and sell yourselves back to them for nothing make it legal.
It’s all on you to blame yourself for carrying around a boulder of memories that were never yours to begin with. Every year we have Black history month and I think that we should stop. The HISTORY that is being celebrated are the days that we blame White people for today. I want to celebrate the Black Culture as we do in Puerto Rico through food, music, our passion for one another, and our growth as a people no matter what skin color you are.
